synapped > The Tree Revisted

Back to the tree at the Japanese Garden in Portland this fall. It's so spectacular! This is almost straight out of the camera, just a wee brightening and levels and such. I like the one I got this year better than last year’s because I got leaves under the tree this time! I just finally framed last year's in 20x30 size for my dining room. Now I'm debating about printing this one instead.

Since I didn't get the full starburst, I don't know whether the light "aura" is a good thing or not. I'd love your honest opinions about that.

A city park in Portland, Oregon. I couldn't believe my luck when the wind sent the leaves a-whirlin'!

I just returned from a week in Acapulco. These cliff divers put on a show every night, starting at sunset. It was so amazing to watch!

I tried several times last year to photograph the amazing color transformation along this ivy-covered sound barrier wall. This year I just turned around and shot the other direction. I think I like it!

We had the most spectacular thunderstorm while in Acapulco. This one lasted the entire night -- I've never seen anything like it! With that opportunity I finally succeeded at getting a lightning shot from our hotel balcony! The friends we went with were out on the cruise party ship between these 2 bolts of lightning celebrating Independence Day! (If you hover your mouse over the pic and choose X2Large it's much more dramatic)

We went to Bandon, Oregon this weekend, as I wanted to get pix of the seastacks in the ocean around there. The weather was stormy, so I didn't get what I wanted of the sea. We went to this West Coast Game Park, and these bengal tiger cubs were about my favorite animals there. They participate in a breeding program for zoos.

My next purchase needs to either be a flash or a f/1.4 type of faster lens. I fought low light problems the whole time, and this was the best I could do with these adorable little guys. Any recommendations?
